Yoga- Union with the Divine. A prescribed path of
spiritual life.
Sober - Not affected by a chemical substance, especially
alcohol.
Live Yoga. Be Sober.
Whether you want to stop drinking for good or just take a break from too much boozing, you can experience recognition of your true
self by living yoga and getting sober. This revelation takes desire,
knowledge, and action.
You have chosen to read this, so you already
have the desire to stop drinking and practice yoga. Believe
it or not, you are well on your way to freedom from dependency! On these
pages, I offer you some knowledge to support you in your
action of getting sober.
Asana
Asanas are the poses, or "seats", that make up the physical
practice of yoga. You could look at a bunch of pictures of poses and
read about them but that's not going to help much. You need to do them! But it doesn't end there. Yoga is all about taking
what you learn on the mat and applying it to all aspects of your life;
including getting healthy from the inside out.
I am trained in Anusara yoga. Anusara translates "To step into
the flow of grace." Founder, John Friend, created the Anusara Principles
of Alignment, which I have found the most effective way to feel good
and create change in my mind, body and spirit. The students and teachers
of this style of yoga are friendly, accepting and helpful to all. Ideally,
I recommend finding an Anusara yoga teacher in your city. Start with
a basics class to learn optimum alignment and be comfortable trying
the practice for the first time. Classes can be found in studios, gyms
and the YMCA.
I have recently recorded Yoga Fix. Whether you are new to yoga or an old pro that wants to start a simple home practice, this sobriety themed asana CD will inspire you live yoga and be good to yourself. It's a great tool to have on hand to practice yoga anytime. Especially when you are jonesing for for another kind of fix.

Note: If you are already a 12 stepper and that is working for you
- great! Keep that, and perhaps add yoga as part of your 11th step of
improving your "conscious contact with God".
